Things You Can’t Miss When Visiting Lexington

In the heart of Kentucky, there is a city that offers great food and nightlife. From restaurants to museums, this little town has it all. If you’re looking for something more than just sightseeing then I recommend taking some time out in Lexington where we can enjoy our favorite pastimes: shopping or catching up with friends over drinks downtown.

Kentucky Horse Park

Anyone who loves horses must visit the park. The park was founded in 1978 and educates visitors about the role of horses in American history. It boasts over 200 acres of land, so there’s plenty to see here. Not only will you get to view beautiful creatures, but you can even have a chance to interact with them yourself if you’re up for the challenge.

Mary Todd Lincoln House

If you’re interested in history, then don’t miss this museum. On November 4th 1843, the historical Mary Todd Lincoln was born into this world. She lived there with her family until she left for boarding school when she was 16 years old. Now it’s a national historic landmark and well worth checking out if you want to learn more about our country’s past.

Raven Run Nature Sanctuary

In 2013, this was one of the only remaining homes from the historic Lexington Presbytery. In 1831, it started as a simple stone house and has been renovated several times over to how it is today. It offers an interesting take on things since being located at a section called Shriners Hill. The idea is that local boys will have a place for nature hikes and things of that sort. You can find trails to walk throughout the park or just check out the exterior if you’re not into going too deep into things. Whatever suits your fancy basically.

Waveland State Historic Site

One of the things that make this historic site so great is that it was originally a plantation. The main house, which is a plantation house, was built in 1812 and has been featured several times throughout history. If you’re into things from back then then don’t miss out on having a look for yourself! It’ll feel as if you’ve traveled back to an older time period and will give you things to think about too.

Aviation Museum of Kentucky

The museum is located in Blue Grass Airport, which was originally developed by the British during World War II. Since then things have changed enough that it’s an educational facility for aviation things. If you’re into planes or things of that sort, then this might be a fun place to go! People of all ages are welcome here so everyone can have a good time while learning more about things they may not have otherwise known. It’s worth checking out if you want to learn something new while also having some fun!

Talon Winery & Vineyards

If you’re into things that are grown in Kentucky, then this is a great place for you. It has over 400 acres of land so it’s pretty big! They have things like wine tastings where you can try things out before buying any bottles to take home with you. You can also check out the different things they have on sale or even just go walk through the vineyards at your own slow pace and enjoy things up close and personal. There’s lots to do here and everyone will love having a good time while doing things they’ll enjoy!

University of Kentucky Art Museum

This museum is located on Rose Street and contains things like historical artifacts, fine art things, things for children, things for adults, and things that everyone can enjoy. It’s worth checking out if you want to learn more about things from back in the day or just have fun while grappling with things of today. It’s open Tuesday through Sunday so it should be easy enough to find a time that works best for you!

McConnell Springs

This is a historic site which contains things like Indian things, things for children, things for adults, and things that everyone can enjoy. It’s worth checking out if you want to learn more about things from back in the day or just have fun while grappling with things of today. The park is located at the corner of Jefferson St. and Ironworks Rd., so it should be easy enough to find!

As you can see, there are many things to do in Lexington, KY.
